STATE REPRESENTATIVE JOSE ALISEDA ANNOUNCES FOR DISTRICT ATTORNEY
Raised in a tradition of faith, family and service to country, Jose Aliseda has answered the call to service many times.
While attending the University of Texas School of Law, he chose to serve his country in the U.S. Navy, where he gained valuable leadership experience as an officer in the Judge Advocate General Corps.
Since then, Jose has made a name for himself as a hard-hitting county prosecutor who fought against election fraud and political corruption, a budget conscious county judge and a tough on crime member of the Board of Pardons and Parole. Most recently he established himself as one of the state’s most influential state legislators, garnering honors as “Freshman of the Year” from the House GOP Caucus and other organizations. He was also honored as a “Taxpayer Advocate of the Year.”
After a term in the legislature helping District 35 by passing numerous local bills and taking leading roles on important issues such as Voter ID and passage of pro life legislation, Jose is ready to come home to his ranch where he can be closer to his family.
Now he wants to continue his service to the people of Bee, Live Oak and McMullen Counties as District Attorney in the 156th Judicial District. In addition to his service in the Navy JAG corps and serving the citizens of Bee County as a county attorney and county judge, Jose became a leading advocate for reform in the criminal justice system as a member of the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee where he argued for protecting the rights of victims and ensuring that all people receive equal justice under the law. He was honored for his work by the Texas District and County Attorneys Association.
Already, Jose’s decision to seek the office of District Attorney has garnered bipartisan support. When current 156th District Attorney Martha Warner, a Democrat, decided that she could not run for another term because of health reasons, she asked Republican Aliseda to consider running for the office because she knew that he would do what was right for the judicial system.
The Beeville Bee-Picayune lamented the loss of Aliseda at the legislature and Warner in the DA’s position but concluded “Although we don’t know yet whether he will draw an opponent for this three-county district, we believe Warner could not have found a better replacement.”
